If you take a look at the Homespunspa flower logo — there's one next door in the sidebar — you'll notice that each of the letters in Homespunspa stands for something related to health, wellness, and spas. For example, "H" is for "healing." I call it the "cheerleader's definition" of Homespunspa. The second "s" is for "sports" and I've always tried to encourage people to exercise regularly as part of their personal wellness program.

Five years ago this month, the Olympics had landed in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Talk about sports and fitness! The athletes show us the amazing things the human body can do given proper training. I mean, I know we don't have wings, but these superstars can fly! It's breathtaking to watch!

Coincidentally, I was also at my peak of fitness in 2010. Fitness was in the air that year! Now, five years later, I'd like to get in better shape again so I'm making fitness a priority.

As many of you know, I attend 3 to 4 Jazzercise classes every week and although it's fun to go to class, it's not doing much for my waistline. Back in January, I was trying to figure out a way to up the ante somehow.

All of a sudden, Jazzercise issued a special-never-seen-before "30 classes in 35 days challenge." Yes, 30 classes in 35 days of classes and that means you have to participate in at least 5 classes a week for 6 weeks in a row, if you want to earn the t-shirt.

My instructor offers 9 classes a week and she's running the challenge till March 12 so there's lots a wiggle room to finish the challenge and get the t-shirt.

I've accepted the challenge even though I actually have to finish the challenge a week early and that means I have to go to 6 or 7 classes a week — and twice on Tuesdays — and twice my weekly attendance -- all through the month of February and first week of March. That's a pretty intense schedule! My motivation? First, I'm going on a family vacation in March where I might have to wear a bathing suit (not a cushy ski jacket) and second, who's kidding who, I want that t-shirt! :)

I'm happy to say that so far I've gone to 14 Jazzercise classes since February 1st and tonight will be my 15th — which means I'm halfway there! I've actually gone to seven Jazzercise classes a week for two weeks now and it's going well but I must admit that I am more tired than usual and I am a little grumpy and my left arm hurts a bit. Otherwise, thumbs up. I'll let you know next month if I get the t-shirt or not. Stay tuned.

Have you taken on a fitness challenge of some sort lately? If so, let me know how it went or how it's going. I'd love to be your cheerleader.

About Homespunspa

The concept of Homespunspa was sprung from a sleep-over in 1999 after I invited some friends to a slumber party that turned into a spa party.

We each created our own home spa treatments for hair, nails, face and body using natural ingredients like avocados, lemons and essential oils.

That night, my love of spas was awakened and as my head hit the pillow, the word, "Homespunspa" was born.

Homespunspa Enterprises was established in 2001 and the sheep logo was commissioned later that year. In 2002, I launched www.homespunspa.com and the site has been live on the Internet without interruption all of these years.

In 2006, I self-published a book of home spa recipes entitled, How to Throw a Home Spa Pajama Party the Homespunspa Way.

In 2009, I added a blog to the Homespunspa website. In 2010, I graduated from the Aveda Institute with a diploma in Esthetics. In 2011, I added a mobile spa department to Homespunspa. In 2014, I added life coaching to the Homespunspa menu of services.

Also in 2014, I started publishing the Homespunspa e-newsletter, Ewesletter, each month, during the third week of the month, on or after the 16th day.

Thanks for reading the Homespunspa Ewesletter. I hope to see you in person soon.

Sincerely,

Maria Alexandra Koropecky

esthetician and owner of Homespunspa.
