Remember how last month I mentioned I was working on some really fun and exciting projects and am in the process of forming some wonderful partnerships with some like-minded professionals?

Well, I'm happy to say that Homespunspa Mobile Spa has partnered up with Animals for Life Society, a charitable organization that helps animals of all shapes and sizes find loving homes in our community.

You'll find me there in the Animals for Life thrift store, giving chair massages on Thursdays for the foreseeable future, and a percentage of my sales will go towards the animals! It's win, win, win for everybody!

Animals For Life Society Thrift Store

So go ahead, have a seat, your chair massage is waiting.

What's so great about chair massages?

Out of all of the spa services I provide, I think giving chair massages is my favourite. I love seeing the expressions on people's faces after I've massaged their neck, shoulders, back, and hands. Last time I was there, my client said, "Wow!" after only receiving a quick sample!

Chair Massage is a type of massage, invented by David Palmer in the 1980's, that is performed while the client sits facing forward, fully supported and fully clothed, in a special, ergonomically-designed chair.

The massage therapist uses a combination of Shiatsu and Swedish massage techniques and focuses on the muscle groups in the neck, shoulders, back, arms and hands.

The portable massage chairs can be set up anywhere and can be used to promote wellness in the workplace and at public events.

Chair massage routines typically last 15 minutes, like a coffee break, and there's no need to disrobe. Afterwards, the receiver of the chair massage will feel re-energized and ready to carry on with the rest of the day on a positive and productive note.

Benefits of chair massage include: stress management; increased circulation; reduced muscular tension and stiffness; chronic pain management; detoxification; boost of endorphins (feel-good hormone); reduced fatigue, anxiety and depression; and better sleep.

Please see the chair massage page on our homespunspa.com website for more info.

About Homespunspa

The concept of Homespunspa was sprung from a sleep-over in 1999 after I invited some friends to a slumber party that turned into a spa party.

We each created our own home spa treatments for hair, nails, face and body using natural ingredients like avocados, lemons and essential oils.

That night, my love of spas was awakened and as my head hit the pillow, the word, "Homespunspa" was born.

Homespunspa Enterprises was established in 2001 and the sheep logo was commissioned later that year. In 2002, I launched www.homespunspa.com and the site has been live on the Internet without interruption all of these years.

In 2006, I self-published a book of home spa recipes entitled, How to Throw a Home Spa Pajama Party the Homespunspa Way.

In 2009, I added a blog to the Homespunspa website. In 2010, I graduated from the Aveda Institute with a diploma in Esthetics. In 2011, I added a mobile spa department to Homespunspa. In 2014, I added life coaching to the Homespunspa menu of services.

Also in 2014, I started publishing the Homespunspa e-newsletter, Ewesletter, each month, during the third week of the month, on or after the 16th day.

Thanks for reading the Homespunspa Ewesletter. I hope to see you in person soon.

Sincerely,

Maria Alexandra Koropecky

esthetician and owner of Homespunspa.
